This is some of our favorite WordPress Plugins. It is not an exhaustive list so any critics coming to this site who may be wondering why we didn’t include certain plugins it’s because if we were to include all the plugins we like and use this page would be a mile long. Rather we tried to include some of the plugins that are critical and that we like to give those folks who aren’t WordPress ninjas some insight into functional capability.
WordPress SEO by Yoast
No question in the minds of many (including us) that this is the best WordPress SEO plug you can get for free.
Aweber Forms
We actually use two different Aweber plugins but this one by Aweber will stick a check box at the bottom of a WordPress comment box that will allow people to subscribe to your mailing list without having to fill out a form and building your subscriber list is essential.
Dynamic Content Gallery
We recommend the use of video whenever possible. Video brings you closer to your customer and if you put your video on YouTube properly tagged it can provide powerful back linking value but if you don’t like using video and you have a need to be able to display pictures in a nicely formatted gallery then you can’t do much better then using the Dynamic Content Gallery.
Event Calendar
There are many different event calendars at your disposal with WordPress and there are other calendar, event based plugins for classes but we picked this one because it’s a good general purpose calendar for most situations and it can be pegged to a WordPress post which allows you to provide additional details about and promote your event.
This is a specialized plugin for building membership sites. We like it because it’s easy to configure and integrate with a number of shopping carts, with Aweber and other services such as managing affiliate programs.
Lightbox Plus
If you have a need to use and display pictures separately or as part of a gallery then this plug in will frame your photos in a nice frame. It’s a nice user experience for anyone that wants an attractive way to display their photos.
Simple Facebook Connect, Twitter and Sociable
So, is the world social crazy? It is and these plugins make it easy to connect your site with your Facebook profile, fan page, twitter as well as give your visitors a way to promote and share your content across the internet.
Genesis Simplesidebar
This plugin is only available if you have a WordPress website that is built on the Genesis Theme Framework (which we do). It allows you to create any number of sidebars and assign them to a page, post, or category so you can match content with the information presented on the side.
All plugins are managed via the WordPress dashboard so it’s pretty easy to keep everything organized and running smoothly.
There are 17,000 different WordPress plug ins to choose from which is to say that WordPress is almost infinitely extensible. It can do just about anything you need it to do other then get your coffee for you in the morning. We install all plugins for you before handing your site over to you so you won’t have to worry about any of the technicalities. All you have to do is write.
